HEY YA’LL! I’m sure most of you have heard of this community service project-group-thing called INSPIRE, and if you didn’t know, a of couple of us in AEP are part of it. ^^

Two of the brightest young choreographers in Singapore take the dance spotlight this year: Joavien Ng and daniel k. Both are chosen from the alumni of Forward Moves, the Festival’s special platform dedicated to Singapore’s emerging choreographers over the last three years.

Sharing a double-bill, Joavien and daniel take on the challenge of ‘reversal’ and ‘negotiation’ in their respective projects.

In Body Swap, which is co-commissioned and co-produced by the Festival, Goethe-Institut Singapore and Kampnagel (Hamburg), Joavien encounters Hamburg-based choreographer, Dani Brown. As perfect strangers, they embark on a role-reversal travelling to live in each other’s home, making a movie diary, and finally switching a solo dance with each other.

In Q&A, daniel encounters the audience even before the dance piece is made. Through a consultative and feedback process – along with a sociologist and economist – he then creates the perfect dance, according to the audience’s desire.

Join the tongue-in-cheek duo, Joavien and daniel, in the performance of talking dance.

Body Swap is co-commissioned and co-produced by the Singapore Arts Festival, Goethe-Institut Singapore and Kampnagel (Hamburg)

Heritage Fest Photo Competition 1.6.09

Take part in this photography competition and stand to win great prizes! Simply capture images of your neighbourhood – be it the people, landscape or traditional customs and practices being carried out that mean something to you. It’s that simple!

* You can submit a maximum of 6 photographs in either colour or monochrome.
* Each entry must be accompanied with a caption of not more than 100 words on what the photo represents to you.

* Winners will be informed by the organisers by 20 June 2009.

NJPS Photo Competition SNAP!

This year, the National Junior College Photographic Society (NJPS) is rolling out its inaugural photography competition (cum exhibition and seminar) – SNAP! – with the theme “Colours!

This event comprises a nationwide photography competition, and a follow-up seminar and exhibition for the competition participants. Through SNAP!, NJPS hopes that Singaporean youths will gain a greater interest in photography as a form of visual art, and take up photography as their hobby. The competition will also provide an excellent opportunity for budding youth photographers to display their creativity and talent in photography, while the exhibition will serve as a platform for winners to showcase their work. The seminar after the competition is aimed at inspiring participants to explore the various genres of photography, and to appreciate the different aspects of it.

2nd Prize : Nikon D60 (Kit)
3rd Prize : Nikon D40 (Kit)
6 Consolation Prizes : Nikon Coolpix S9
20 Honourable Mention Certificates

As for the School Challenge Award (SCA), the winning school will be awarded a trophy. The scoring system is as follows:

Per Consolation Prize – 10 pt
3rd Prize – 20 pt
2nd Prize – 30 pt
1st Prize – 50 pt

A maximum of 3 photographs are allowed to be submitted per participant. Submissions open on 15 March 2009 and close on 30 April 2009.

We are encouraged to spam this competition since more entries = higher chance of winning school challenge. You can let HC photog do your saikang by emailing the photos to hcphotogsoc@gmail.com. Reminded to submit the photos the week before 30^th April (i.e. before 25^th April) so that they can have time to collate the details.
